    , ,

    Tasting Notes:

This is the second wine of Chateau la Gaffeliere and was first made in 1985 produced from the young Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines on the estate. The percentage varies each year. This is a wine designed to be drinkable straight away but will improve. The same attention is given to the Clos plots as for the Grand Vin. All hand picked, the first selection in the vineyard, and the same wine making process; the only difference is the Clos only spends one year in new oak. The wine used to only be available to private customers, but is now available to all. This is a warm dry vintage; the blend 75% Merlot to 25% Cabernet Franc. An elegant wine, fresh red in colour, the nose full of dark red berries as well as mocha and herbs and spices. It has a full bodied palate with spice, cedar and fine grained tannins.
